Hamzat emphasizes connection over cash amid social media speculation
Nigerian TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, has addressed widespread rumors about his recent TikTok live session with music icon Davido. Fans and followers speculated that the pair had earned a staggering $400,000 (around N658 million) from viewer gifts, but Peller took to social media to set the record straight.
During a live update on his TikTok account, Peller clarified that the actual earnings were significantly lower, amounting to around 300,000 coins—roughly equivalent to N1.5 million. Peller urged fans to disregard the inflated figures circulating online and instead focus on the experience rather than the money.
“Davido suggested we split the earnings,” Peller shared during the broadcast, “but I let the person managing the exchange keep the amount. Meeting Davido is a huge achievement for me; it’s not about the money. I wanted the recognition.”
Following the session, Peller reiterated his message on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging fans to appreciate the positive energy and music that characterized their interaction.
In his words:
“Let’s relax with the fake news, please. The live stream with the Baddest [Davido] wasn’t about gifts or games; it was about good vibes and music. We only received 359k coins on the live—that’s under 2 million naira. Thanks to OBO and his team for the opportunity.”
The session marked a memorable moment for Peller, who continues to celebrate the connection with Davido over any monetary gain.
