Recalling the challenging period, she described how public opinion turned against her. “My baby was just a few months old, and my body wasn’t the same. I was dealing with postpartum and depression. Only a few people came to check on me; everyone supported him.”

Public Backlash and Emotional Impact

Tiwa also recounted the intense criticism she faced after giving an interview to tell her side of the story. She revealed that societal expectations amplified the blame placed on her. “People said, ‘How dare you talk? You’re a woman; you’re supposed to build the house.’ It was heartbreaking,” she said.

The experience left her feeling depressed and angry for a long time, shaping her approach to public life and her music persona. “It was an eye-opener. I became the ‘African Bad Girl.’ I started getting tattoos, wearing bikinis, and short skirts,” she added.

Tiwa’s candid reflection offers a rare glimpse into the personal struggles behind her public persona. While she faced immense pressure and criticism, the experience helped her grow stronger and more self-assured.
