Tottenham planning remarkable move for Real Madrid outcast Bale

Tottenham are planning a massive offer to bring Gareth Bale back from Real Madrid, according to Football Insider.

The Welsh star has had a controversial time at Real since he moved in 2013 and has a bad relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane.

Although he’s won countless trophies, including two La Liga titles and four Champions League titles, Bale is still looking for a route away from Real to get regular playing time.

Spurs could offer Bale the chance to leave on loan for next season and link up with their talisman Harry Kane.

The deal would likely involve an initial loan period, of around one or two seasons, then a permanent transfer.

One stumbling block would be Bale’s reported £600,000-a-week wages. Tottenham owner Daniel Levy is unlikely to want to pay this sum and might have to offer Real half of that per week.

The deal’s success will depend on how much Real are willing to pay whilst the 31-year-old is out on loan.

This is not the first time Bale has been linked with a return to England. Tottenham have attempted to bring him back in both of the past two summers, while Man Utd were rumoured to want his signature last year.

Bale has been an outcast in Madrid this campaign and has even been pictured sleeping while named as a substitute.

The winger has played 20 times in all competitions, scoring three goals. He was left out of Zidane’s 24-man squad earlier this week when Real lost to Man City in the Champions League.

Bale is just one of a number of stars that Jose Mourinho’s side have been linked with this summer.

They’re in the running to sign striker Callum Wilson from relegated Bournemouth for £20 million. Wilson is a proven Premier League goalscorer and will provide competition for club captain Kane.

Spurs have also emerged as surprise favourites to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles from rivals Arsenal. The youngster is available this window as Arsenal bosses look to start their summer overhaul.

Maitland-Niles could replace the inconsistent Serge Aurier at right-back and help to bring versatility to Mourinho’s squad.
