Nottingham Forest’s move for an Arsenal defender has become complicated, while Inter Milan are still pursuing a deal for a Manchester United target…
ARSENAL EXIT HITS ROADBLOCK
A deal to sell Nuno Tavares to Nottingham Forest has become complicated for Arsenal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The former Portugal Under-21 international struggled to make a positive impact in his first season at the Emirates Stadium after moving from Benfica in July 2021.
That led Mikel Arteta to loan the left-back out to French club Marseille last season with the defender scoring six goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Olympiens.
And now he could be leaving Arsenal again before the deadline, but this time permanently, with Premier League side Nottingham Forest interested in the Portuguese defender.
Forest are reportedly willing to pay around £30m for Tavares with the 23-year-old open to joining the east Midlands outfit before the end of the window.
However, Romano claims that the deal is now “getting complicated” with “other options” emerging for Tavares this summer.
Romano wrote on Twitter: “Understand talks between Nottingham Forest and Arsenal for Nuno Tavares are not easy — deal getting complicated at this stage #NFFC There are other options for Nuno now.”
INTER CONFIRM DEAL IS STILL ON
Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that “talks are ongoing” over a possible deal for top Man Utd target Benjamin Pavard.
Pavard is rumoured to be Erik ten Hag’s top target if Harry Maguire leaves Old Trafford this summer with the France international set to leave Bayern Munich before the end of the transfer window.
A report in Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport said yesterday that Man Utd have let Bayern know that they have ‘€40m ready’ for a transfer this summer.
That is understood to make things difficult for Inter Milan as the Serie A giants didn’t want to reach €40m for the centre-back.
But with no sign of Man Utd selling Maguire, after a £30m move to West Ham fell through, the Red Devils may have to watch as Inter take their priority target.
Inter CEO Marotta has confirmed that a “deal [is] on” but that they are waiting for Bayern Munich to find a replacement before a transfer can be pushed through.
Marotta said on Saturday: “Pavard? Deal on. We are still negotiating with Bayern. Player’s will is crucial and he wants to join Inter. Bayern need a replacement to let him leave, this is the issue. But talks are ongoing.”
