Transfer Gossip: Bruno Fernandes Considers Shock Exit from Manchester United Amid Al-Hilal Interest

Captain’s Future Hangs in the Balance as Saudi Giants Offer Lucrative €70m-a-Year Deal

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly informed the club that he could leave this summer if they fail to win the Europa League, with Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal ready to swoop in with a blockbuster offer.

According to Fichajes, Fernandes is deeply concerned about United’s lack of progress under manager Rúben Amorim and fears the club’s project is stagnating. With the Red Devils languishing in 16th place in the Premier League, the 30-year-old playmaker is tempted by Al-Hilal’s staggering €70 million-per-season contract offer, seeing little reason to stay if United aren’t competing among Europe’s elite.

The report claims that only a Europa League triumph—which would secure a trophy and Champions League qualification—could persuade Fernandes to remain at Old Trafford. His representatives have already held talks with Al-Hilal, who are prepared to trigger a reported €65 million release clause in his contract.

Despite the swirling speculation, Amorim has publicly dismissed the idea of Fernandes leaving, insisting the Portuguese star remains central to his plans. “No, it’s not going to happen,” Amorim said last month. “He’s 30, but he plays like he’s still in his prime—55 games a season, contributing to 30+ goals. He’s happy here, he believes in what we’re building, and he feels Manchester United. That frustration people see? It’s because he cares deeply. That’s the kind of player we want. He’s not going anywhere—I’ve already told him.”

Since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in 2020, Fernandes has been a standout performer, scoring 98 goals in 285 appearances. Yet, his time at United has yielded just two domestic cups, fueling his desire for greater success. With Al-Hilal’s mammoth offer on the table, the coming weeks could decide whether United’s talismanic captain stays or seeks a new challenge in Saudi Arabia.
