Arsenal may have to include Emile Smith Rowe in their offer for West Ham captain Declan Rice, while Chelsea want Inter Milan’s goalkeeper and star striker…
WEST HAM WANT ARSENAL ATTACKER IN PART-EX FOR RICE
Arsenal want a deal done swiftly for Declan Rice and West Ham could do without their skipper’s exit becoming a saga. The Gunners are putting together a bid worth £92million but the Hammers have always insisted upon at least £100million for the England midfielder, especially with Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich all still sniffing.
Mikel Arteta could sweeten Arsenal’s offer by chucking in Emile Smith Rowe. The Sun says West Ham would be interested in taking the young playmaker in a part-exchange deal and even though the Gunners are reluctant to pack off their academy graduate, they might have little option if they want to secure Rice.
The 24-year-old remains Bayern’s top target but Sky Germany says there are no recent developments in Bavaria and Arsenal remain in the strongest position to land the Irons’ captain. Indeed, Bayern’s focus seems to be switching towards Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, who would be considerably cheaper than Rice at £35million.
West Ham have a list of five other targets they intend to pursue once Rice is through the door, including Edson Alvarez. But The Guardian says Ajax are demanding £45million for the Mexico midfielder.
Arsenal also face a bill for £45million if they hope to land Joao Cancelo. That’s the fee Manchester City want to send another full-back to the Emirates and Football Insider says talks are progressing well over a deal for the 29-year-old.
CHELSEA EYE INTER DUO, SAINTS STARLET
Among other things, Chelsea want a centre-forward and a goalkeeper this summer. They could source both in Milan…
The Times says the Blues are battling with Real Madrid for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez. Romelu Lukaku is returning from Inter to Chelsea but Mauricio Pochettino still wants a goalscorer and Martinez is high on his list. However, Real see the Argentina hit-man as an ideal replacement for Karim Benzema.
Chelsea would like Martinez to bring Andre Onana with him to Stamford Bridge, and Tuttomercatoweb says an agreement is in place between the Blues and the Inter goalkeeper. But Inter are insisting on a fee higher than the £34million Chelsea have offered. If no deal is forthcoming, L’Equipe reckons Pochettino could move for AC Milan stopper Mike Maignan instead.
Pochettino is also looking for midfielders, especially if Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic move to Manchester with United and City respectively. Football London says Chelsea have opened talks with Southampton over Romeo Lavia, for whom they had a bid rejected last last summer shortly after the 19-year-old joined Saints from City.
