After seeing Chelsea splurge on Marc Cucurella, Leicester must be desperate to hear what the Blues come back with for Wesley Fofana…
CHELSEA TO TRY AGAIN FOR FOFANA
The opening weekend of the Premier League season is threatening to get in the way of some manic transfer-ing at Chelsea…
It seems a quite extraordinary deal, one potentially worth up to £60million for Marc Cucurella, could go through before they kick-off against Everton on Saturday evening, with the Brighton left-back said by some sources to have completed his medical with the Blues on Thursday.
With Cucurella in the bag, Chelsea are now zeroing in on Wesley Fofana. The Blues have seen a £60million offer rejected by Leicester but The Times says Todd Boehly is considering going back to the Foxes with an improved offer worth £70million. Seeing how accommodating Boehly has been for Brighton, the Foxes should be demanding an even bigger sum than that.
While Leicester have Boehly on the blower, there may be a conversation to be had about Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The former England winger is said by CBS to be a target for Brendan Rodgers, but apparently the Foxes won’t combine a deal for Hudson-Odoi with Fofana’s departure.
PSG TO RIVAL BARCA FOR CITY STAR
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is the latest star to be offered in the Barcelona fire-sale.
Having put all their summer shopping on tick, Barca are hurriedly trying to shift anyone and anything that might earn or save them a few euros.
That shift in approach has seen them cool their interest in Bernardo Silva. Manchester City were open to selling the Portugal playmaker but only for around £70million.
With Barca’s latest lines of credit almost maxed, the Catalans can’t afford Silva – but PSG can.
Footmercato says the Parisians are ready to swoop for the City star, with Sport reporting that Christophe Galtier wants three more players as part of his first recruitment drive in the French capital.
REAL EYE MAN UTD, CHELSEA TARGET
Barca have lost their minds somewhat over the gap between themselves and Real Madrid. Real have had a rather more low-key summer after winning La Liga and the Champions League, though they have done one of the biggest deals of the window to sign Aurelien Tchouameni.
Now Florentino Perez is said to be shifting his attention to finding a replacement for Karim Benzema. It won’t be Kylian Mbappe, not this summer at least. But it could be Benjamin Sesko.
The 19-year-old has been chased by Manchester United and Chelsea but Radioestadio Noche claims the RB Salzburg striker is one of two possible targets for Real.
The other is Amine Gouiri, but Sport says Real won’t meet Nice’s current valuation of £33.7million for the 22-year-old. If the French side lower their asking price, Real may be prepared to loan Gouiri back to them for the season.
