Real Madrid flop Eden Hazard could be set to return to London, while disgraced Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood could kickstart his career in Europe…
PALACE PAY-AS-YOU-PLAY DEAL FOR HAZARD
There have been few falls from grace more spectacular than Eden Hazard’s belly-flop from the top. The ex-Belgium winger was a huge waste of £100million-plus for Real Madrid, who were finally shot of him this summer.
There has been talk that Hazard was prepared to retire rather than attempt to revive his career, or perhaps head Down Under to escape the media focus in the A-League, but Football Transfers reckons the 32-year-old could return to London for another shot at the Premier League.
Apparently, Steve Parish and Roy Hodgson both agree that Hazard could be asset for Crystal Palace on the pitch and commercially. Hazard is set to be offered a one-season, pay-as-you-play deal at Selhurst Park.
BALKANS BECKONS FOR GREENWOOD
For vastly different reasons, Mason Greenwood is also looking for an opportunity to kickstart his career with Manchester United searching for somewhere to park their disgraced forward.
They might have found a new home for Greenwood – in the Balkans.
While numerous clubs around the world distance themselves from links with the 21-year-old, Talksport says an unnamed Albanian side have come forward to offer United a temporary solution to their problem.
ARSENAL, TOTTENHAM TOLD TONEY PRICE
After their early-summer splurge, Arsenal are now trying to recoup some cash and trim Mikel Arteta’s squad. The Athletic says the Gunners are close to completing a season-long loan deal with Real Sociedad for Kieran Tierney, while RMC Sport suggests an agreement is in place with Monaco over a move for Folarin Balogun which will cost the French side £38.6million plus add-ons.
It will cost Arsenal around double that figure to land Ivan Toney. The Times says the Gunners are eyeing a move for the Brentford striker in January, by which time his eight-month ban for breaching betting rules will have been served.
Tottenham are also said to be keen to land the England forward but Brentford want big money for the 27-year-old. The Bees are set to demand £80million, with Toney in the process of switching agents.
SPURS STALLING OVER JOHNSON
More immediately, Tottenham are focused on Brennan Johnson but Nottingham Forest, quite rightly, are digging in their heels over their 22-year-old.
The Independent reports that Spurs remain some way off agreeing a fee with Forest, who are sticking rigidly to their £40million valuation.
Spurs’ dithering could see Chelsea swoop for the versatile forward, with the Blues already talking to Forest over a loan deal for Andrey Santos.
