Liverpool Legend Would Consider Comeback for Spanish Giants or Germany, Says Insider
Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp would be willing to end his management sabbatical for one of two specific roles, according to a prominent report. The German coach, who left Anfield last summer, is said to have a firm condition for any return to the dugout.
Klopp, 57, has been working in a far less stressful role as Red Bull’s Global Head of Football since early 2025, enjoying more personal time after his legendary nine-year tenure at Liverpool. However, German journalist Florian Plettenberg now reports that Klopp “would return” to frontline management for a concrete offer from Real Madrid or the German national team—but only if “EVERYTHING fits.”
The update comes amid ongoing turmoil at Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are searching for stability after a trophyless season and the abrupt departure of manager Xabi Alonso this week. Former defender Álvaro Arbeloa, promoted from the youth team, lost his first match in charge and is widely seen as an interim solution.
“Klopp is seriously considering a return as head coach should Real Madrid make a concrete move for the summer,” Plettenberg stated. “Real Madrid have always fascinated him.”
Spanish media corroborates the interest, naming Klopp as the “number one” target for the Madrid board and a long-time favorite among the club’s supporters. Other names linked include recently sacked Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca and former Madrid boss Zinédine Zidane.
While happy in his current Red Bull role, Klopp’s reported openness offers a glimmer of hope to Real Madrid’s leadership as they plot a course back to the top. For now, the football world watches to see if the Spanish giants can meet the conditions to lure one of the game’s most charismatic coaches back to the sidelines.
