Liverpool are said to be among the clubs waiting to pounce for Victor Osimhen, while Arsenal are lining up a France midfielder as an alternative to Man City target Declan Rice…
LIVERPOOL IN OSIMHEN RACE
Things have gone a little quiet around Victor Osimhen of late. Serie A’s leading goalscorer looked set to be one of the hottest properties of the summer transfer window, but Napoli’s demands seem to have made his suitors back off and look elsewhere.
PSG have stuck around and had a sniff. They have offered £86million which Napoli were never going to accept. The Serie A champions were said to be looking for closer to £130million but, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, there is a feeling they could achieve in excess of £150million.
Because as well as PSG, Liverpool are also lurking. Apparently, the Reds have been in touch with Osimhen’s people as Jurgen Klopp seeks a top-class centre-forward to start ‘a new cycle’. And the belief in Italy is that Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle will show their hand at some point.
But it seems Napoli’s greatest hope of pulling in the biggest fee still comes from PSG. If Kylian Mbappe goes to Real Madrid, then they are almost certain to react by doing something daft.
KANE OPEN TO BAYERN SWITCH
Harry Kane is in a similar position to Osimhen. It’s not clear whether or not he wants to move on this summer but if so, Tottenham’s demands are likely to be prohibitive.
Manchester United would love to sign the England striker but the prospect of dialling Daniel Levy’s digits has left them paralysed with fear. Bayern Munich, though, have a bit more about them and they are said to be at the front of the queue for England’s greatest goalscorer.
That’s the word according to Sky Sport Germany, which reports Kane’s keenness to move to Bavaria. Bayern are said to have been in touch with Kane’s agent, his brother Charlie, and it was conveyed to the club that the striker is open to a switch to the Allianz Arena. Bayern, though, assume that Kane is gettable for ‘less than 100million euros’ (£86million).
ARSENAL EYE MONACO STAR AS CITY MOVE FOR RICE
It emerged late on Monday night that Manchester City have made an offer to West Ham for Declan Rice. The Athletic says the champions have tabled £80million plus £10million in add-ons for the Hammers captain, which hardly blows Arsenal out of the water. They bid £75million plus £15million last week. So now we wait to see how the Gunners react.
It would be prudent for Arsenal to have a back-up plan. L’Equipe says they are looking at Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana as an alternative to Rice.
But so too are West Ham. And Newcastle. Fofana, a 24-year-old France international, is said to be available for £30million this summer, but that price might rise if Monaco see Arsenal or West Ham with close to £100million burning a hole in their pockets.
