Transfer gossip: Man City target £50m PL star after £77m swoop; Man Utd will ‘accelerate soon’ for top target

Man City are lining up a move for a Brighton winger after sealing a deal for Josko Gvardiol, while Man Utd are about to get serious for their top target…

MAN CITY ONTO THE NEXT
After wrapping up a deal for Josko Gvardiol, Man City will now move for Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma, according to reports.

The Japan international was one of the standout stars in the Premier League last season with the 26-year-old contrbuting seven goals and five assists in 33 matches.

And now Man City are ready to target Mitoma after sealing a £77m deal to bring Gvardiol to the Etihad Stadium from RB Leipzig as the Citizens’ transfer window ramps up.

The Sun claim that Pep Guardiola ‘will move’ for Mitoma ‘next after finally landing’ Gvardiol with the Japanese winger now ‘also on the radar’.

They describe Guardiola as a ‘big fan’ of Mitoma – who has two years left on his contract at the Amex Stadium –  and he’s been ‘identified by the treble winners as a potential replacement for’ Riyad Mahrez.

The Seagulls are ‘unlikely to allow the Japanese international to leave easily’ and Mitoma ‘could cost up to £50m’ if Man City follow up their interest with a bid.

Man City boss Guardiola picked Mitoma out for special praise during their friendly match with Yokohama F Marinos on the Citizens’ pre-season tour of the Far East

“Well I would say the impact of [Kaoru] Mitoma on the Premier League has been incredible,” Guardiola told reporters after being asked about the quality of Asian football.

Man Utd transfer target Sofyan Amrabat

MAN UTD TO PUT THEIR FOOT ON THE PEDAL
Man Utd are about to ramp up their interest in signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, according to reports.

The Red Devils have already added Mason Mount and Andre Onana to their ranks this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to build on the relative success of his first season in charge.

While Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund was announced as a new Man Utd signing on Saturday with their attention now likely to turn to a new midfielder and centre-back.

And widespread reports indicate that Fiorentina’s Amrabat is now their top target in midfield after the Moroccan shone during the winter World Cup in Qatar.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica insist that a deal can be wrapped up for €25m plus bonuses but that Man Utd are yet to make an offer for the 26-year-old.

The report is predicting ‘really hot days’ for the Amrabat to Man Utd transfer with the Red Devils still ‘in the front row’ for his signature this summer.

And, with the Hojlund deal now confirmed, La Repubblica is expecting ‘acceleration soon’ on a deal for Amrabat but they might have to wait until they sell Fred and Donny van de Beek.
