We all know Kylian Mbappe only has eyes for Real Madrid but we have to pretend that there are four Premier League including Man Utd interested.
FOUR PL CLUBS IN MBAPPE RACE
Will PSG open the door to a transfer this summer? It certainly makes sense. We made a case for every Premier League club but realistically, we are probably talking about four clubs in England.
L’Equipe’s Loic Tanzi has been talking to the BBC: “They have to open the door (to a transfer this summer). In my understanding he will leave because he doesn’t want to renew and his position won’t change and I think PSG’s position won’t change so I think they will open the door (to a transfer) before the end of the market.
“The more complicated thing now is to find an agreement with Real Madrid because PSG won’t want to do any gifts to Real and the Spanish club will try for a low price because they will say they don’t want to pay a big amount of money for a player who is out of contract in a year.
“I think he wants to go to Real Madrid, but Liverpool is also there since many years as well. They kept contact with the family for many years. And I would add Manchester United because they will have a new project soon under new owners.”
It seems highly unlikely that Mbappe will go and play Europa League football with Liverpool; it would be almost less embarrassing to join Chelsea and play no European football at all. The Times say they will be interested because of course they will.
Ben Jacobs says neither Liverpool nor Chelsea will make a bid this summer, saying: “There are Premier League suitors who have held a historical interest in Mbappe, but my understanding is Chelsea and Liverpool won’t enter the race this summer.”
Spanish outlet Nacional meanwhile are claiming that ‘Man City’s intention would be to offer 180 million euros to PSG to take their big star’ and the Ligue 1 giants ‘would be willing’ to let him go for this fee.
Mbappe and Haaland? Shall we all just go home?
CHELSEA MAKE OPENING CAICEDO MOVE
Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked with Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo but the latest claim from Football Insider is that it is the Blues who have made a decisive move and ‘made contact’ after missing out on Manuel Ugarte.
The price is a little more sensible than it would have been in January with Brighton apparently willing to sell for £70m plus add-ons. which is well within Chelsea’s massive budget. That might prompt the Gunners into action, with The Guardian claiming earlier this week that they are ‘considering’ a bid.
THE RICE IS NOT RIGHT YET
There has been so much talk of Declan Rice to Arsenal that it is starting to feel like a done deal but the BBC’s Simon Stone is here to pour some cold water on those claims, writing: ‘I have been told direct talks between Arsenal and West Ham have not even started yet.
‘It could well be the Gunners are putting everything together before they go to the Hammers with a fee they believe will secure the England midfielder. But club to club contact has not happened yet.’
Meanwhile, West Ham United are lining up Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah should Rice make the move to Arsenal, according to CBS Sports.
