Manchester United are hoping for better offers on Harry Maguire and Fred to fund a move for a midfielder wanted by Barca. And Bayern could move for a Prem keeper…
BAYERN MOVE FOR BEES KEEPER
This was supposed to be a big summer for David Raya. Entering the final year of his contract at Brentford, it was expected that the Spain keeper would get a big move. But aside from some early whispers, it’s all gone quiet around the 27-year-old.
Manchester United and Tottenham have got themselves fixed up and it appears that Chelsea might make do with Kepa while they address other priorities. It doesn’t help Raya that Brentford have been asking for £40million for a keeper who will go free in a year, but it’s hardly an outrageous demand for one of the best stoppers in the Premier League.
Bayern Munich might be willing to cough up. They are in the market for a new keeper with Yann Sommer set to join Inter Milan. Sky Sports says Bayern have opened talks with Brentford over a deal for Raya and they reiterate that the Bees are prepared to keep their No.1 despite having already signed a replacement in the shape of Mark Flekken.
Would Raya be prepared to sit as second-choice to Manuel Neuer now the Germany legend is back to full fitness? Neuer can’t go on forever but there’s little sign of him relinquishing the gloves just yet. Bayern were also reported to be interested in signing David De Gea as a free-agent but that talk has been quashed by Sky Germany with the Bavarians unwilling to meet the ex-Man Utd keeper’s salary demands.
UNITED HOPING TO FUND AMRABAT BID
Man Utd’s priority is clear: sign a striker. For Christ’s sake, sign a sodding striker. But Erik ten Hag also fancies another midfielder…
Ten Hag has his eye on Sofyan Amrabat, who is up for grabs having entered the final year of his deal at Fiorentina. The Guardian says the Morocco star would cost around £30million, but Ten Hag will have to raise the cash himself through sales.
United have rejected an offer worth £20million from West Ham for Harry Maguire, while Sky Sports reports that they have also knocked back Galatasaray after they made a bid for Fred.
Donny van de Beek could be on his way but there is no guarantee of a fee should United reach an agreement with Real Sociedad. Marca says the Spaniards are talking to the Red Devils over a loan deal with the option to buy.
PSG POUNCE FOR FRANCE STAR
PSG’s work this summer is inevitably overshadowed by the palaver around Kylian Mbappe. Still, the Ligue 1 champions are doing their best to carry on regardless, with offers made to Rasmus Hojlund and Atalanta, while a move for Ousmane Dembele is set to be imminent.
Dembele is in the final year of his contract at Barcelona – again – and ESPN says PSG have already agreed terms over a five-year deal with the 26-year-old.
PSG’s urgency is prompted by a release clause in Dembele’s agreement with Barca which means he can be bought for £42.8million before the end of this month. So the Parisians have until Monday to get the winger through the door before the cost potentially doubles.
