Most Tottenham fans seem to have made their peace with losing Harry Kane but many might lose their sh*t if they really are looking to replace their greatest goalscorer with a Chelsea flop…
LUKAKU AMONG SPURS-LINKED STRIKER TRIO
After it appeared that Harry Kane was considering custard pie-ing Bayern Munich, it now seems likely the England striker will make the move to Bavaria. So what now for Tottenham now they have at least £86million burning a hole in Daniel Levy’s pocket?
Gazzetta dello Sport floats the possibility of Spurs making moves for Porto’s Mehdi Taremi or Genk’s Gift Orban. But they go bigger on the possibility of Levy looking across London to Chelsea…
With Juventus struggling to agree a deal with the Blues for Romelu Lukaku, Spurs could make a move for the out-of-favour Belgian. Though the report lists more reasons why they won’t: Lukaku doesn’t want to stay in the Premier League; and Ange Postecoglu ‘is not a fan of Big Rom from a technical point of view’.
DE GEA GETS REAL CHANCE
Real Madrid are currently scrambling for a goalkeeper in the wake of Thibaut Courtois’ injury. The Belgium stopper is likely to miss the majority of the new season after suffering a ruptured ACL in training.
It was reported that Real could look to take Kepa Arrizabalaga off Chelsea’s hands, with Bayern Munich also interested in the world’s most expensive goalkeeper as they search for back-up to Manuel Neuer, with Yann Sommer having completed his move to Inter Milan. Bayer are said to have made an offer to take Kepa on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.
So, according to The Times, Real might look to another Spaniard and give David De Gea the opportunity to finally move to the Bernabeu, eight years after a faulty fax machine deprived him of a switch from Manchester United.
Real have already been in touch with De Gea, who would presumably jump at the opportunity as a free-agent with few other appealing options in front of him.
BARCA TO BORROW NEYMAR?
Real are also keeping a close eye on what’s happening between PSG and Kylian Mbappe. PSG want to sell the France star this summer, but Le Parisien says Mbappe has again reiterated to the club that he’s going nowhere until next summer, when he intends to join Real for nothing.
PSG are also trying to shift Marco Verratti, who looked set to join the party in Saudi. But Foot Mercato says Chelsea are now sniffing around the 30-year-old, who is not i Luis Enrique’s plans.
Enrique would also be content to do without Neymar. The Brazil star, like Verratti, is being eyed up by Saudi but Barcelona are also keen. Sport reckons Neymar could join Al-Hilal before moving back to the Nou Camp on loan but only if he is willing to accept a £200,000-a-week net salary.
