Transfer Rumours: Luis Díaz’s Barcelona Dream: Liverpool Winger “Doing Everything” to Force Camp Nou Move

Colombian Star Reportedly Rejects Liverpool Contract as Catalan Giants Weigh Up £68m Bid

The long-running transfer saga surrounding Luis Díaz has taken another dramatic turn, with Spanish reports claiming the Liverpool winger is “only thinking about Barcelona” and pushing hard to secure a dream move to Camp Nou.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 28-year-old Colombian has stalled contract talks at Anfield and is even willing to take a pay cut to join the club he supported as a child. The Barcelona-based outlet insists Díaz “doesn’t feel valued” at Liverpool despite his 13-goal Premier League campaign last season—and has rejected a lucrative renewal offer in hopes of forcing through a transfer.

Yet publicly, Díaz has struck a more diplomatic tone. Speaking last week, he insisted: “I’m very, very happy in Liverpool. From day one, they’ve made me feel really welcome.” However, he notably added that his camp is “speaking with [other] clubs” and admitted his future “depends on them [Liverpool].”

With Barcelona desperate to strengthen their left flank, negotiations now hinge on the fee. While Sport suggests Liverpool could accept around £68m, the cash-strapped La Liga giants are reportedly hoping to drive the price down to £43m.

Should a deal prove impossible, Mundo Deportivo claims Barcelona have three fallback options: Athletic Club’s Nico Williams (a previous target), veteran Ivan Perišić (who worked with manager Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich), and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford—who briefly flirted with a January switch before joining Aston Villa on loan.

For now, the saga remains in limbo. But one thing is clear: Díaz’s childhood dream is closer than ever—and Liverpool face a battle to keep their star man.
