Marcus Rashford
Reports Indicate Shifting Transfer Priorities for European Clubs
Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford appears to have waned, while Marseille’s president has left the door open for a potential move for Paul Pogba, according to recent reports.
PSG Back Off Rashford Pursuit
Paris Saint-Germain, once heavily linked with Marcus Rashford, are reportedly no longer prioritizing the English forward. According to The Athletic, initial reports of a £40 million asking price for Rashford may not reflect Manchester United’s actual demands.
United, holding Rashford on a contract until 2026, are reportedly open to considering substantial offers for the player but are not in a hurry to offload him during the January transfer window. However, attracting significant bids could prove challenging.
PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, previously described Rashford as “really amazing” during the 2022 World Cup and hinted at interest if his United contract had expired. But sources close to the Ligue 1 club now suggest their enthusiasm has cooled, influenced partly by Rashford’s recent public remarks.
Clubs in Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Barcelona have also been linked but are seen as unlikely destinations at this stage.
Pogba to Marseille? Longoria Keeps the Option Open
Meanwhile, Marseille president Pablo Longoria has suggested the possibility of signing Paul Pogba, who is set to return to the pitch as early as March following a reduced doping ban.
Speaking during a press conference, Longoria stated, “I’m not closing the door because he’s a world-class player.” Pogba, once considered among the best midfielders of his generation, is available on a free transfer in January.
While Corinthians in Brazil and even Manchester City have reportedly expressed interest, Pogba’s next move remains uncertain. Clubs are reportedly weighing the 30-year-old’s technical abilities against his recent struggles, including injuries and the doping suspension.
What’s Next for the Players?
Both Rashford and Pogba find themselves at crossroads in their careers. Rashford’s inconsistent form may deter suitors despite his undeniable talent, while Pogba’s potential comeback presents an intriguing prospect for clubs willing to take a chance on his star power.
As the January transfer window approaches, their futures remain key talking points across the football world.
