Transfer Rumours: Real Madrid Eyes Enzo Fernandez in Potential Swap Deal with Chelsea

Los Blancos reportedly consider including Aurelien Tchouameni to bring Chelsea’s Fernandez to the Bernabeu

Real Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Chelsea’s midfielder Enzo Fernandez, who has seen reduced playtime in recent weeks under new manager Enzo Maresca. According to reports from Fichajes via TeamTalk, Madrid is prepared to offer £84 million for Fernandez, whom Chelsea acquired from Benfica for £102 million in January 2023.

With Fernandez’s game time decreasing, Chelsea may be open to a deal. Real Madrid is said to be ready to sweeten the offer by including French international Aurelien Tchouameni in the package, as he is a player Chelsea has previously shown interest in. Tchouameni, who joined Madrid in 2022 from Monaco for £67 million, has played in ten of Madrid’s eleven La Liga games this season but reportedly has fallen out of favor with manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Real Madrid’s top midfield target, however, is Manchester City’s Rodri. Ideally, the Spanish giants would prefer a swap deal involving Tchouameni, but the likelihood of City agreeing to part with their Ballon d’Or-winning midfielder remains slim.

A swap involving Fernandez appears more feasible, especially with Chelsea likely willing to negotiate given Fernandez’s current role at the club. Tchouameni, who remains under contract at Madrid until June 2028, has also attracted interest from Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.

As the January transfer window approaches, Madrid’s midfield overhaul plan may see Fernandez head to Spain, with Tchouameni possibly finding a new Premier League home if Chelsea greenlights the deal.
