Portuguese Fullback Reportedly Interested in Reuniting with Former Coach Ruben Amorim
Paris Saint-Germain fullback Nuno Mendes is reportedly eager to reunite with his former Sporting CP coach, Ruben Amorim, now at Manchester United, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
The 22-year-old Portuguese international is said to be dissatisfied with his current salary at PSG, despite being under contract until 2026. Contract renewal talks, which began in December, have reached an impasse. While PSG remains confident that this is a routine part of negotiations and intends to revisit discussions before the summer, Mendes’ bond with Amorim could complicate the situation.
Foot Mercato also reports that Manchester United has no plans to pursue Mendes during the current transfer window. However, the club is expected to explore the possibility of signing him next summer if PSG fails to resolve the contract deadlock.
Mendes, who has impressed at both the domestic and international levels, would be a valuable addition to United’s squad. For now, PSG hopes to retain their promising fullback and finalize an agreement to extend his stay in Paris.
