The England Defender Reportedly Eyes New Challenges as Madrid and PSG Show Strong Interest
Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly turned down several offers to extend his contract with the club, opening the door for potential moves to top European teams, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. With his current deal allowing him to negotiate with foreign clubs from January 1, Liverpool faces the possibility of losing one of their most prized players.
Reports from Spain suggest Real Madrid, the reigning European champions, are highly interested in signing the 26-year-old right-back, who has expressed ambitions of being the first full-back to win the Ballon d’Or. Madrid are also eyeing Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies as they strengthen their squad. If Alexander-Arnold, who has been a staple in Liverpool’s defense, chooses to leave, he would follow in the footsteps of other high-profile free transfer signings, including Kylian Mbappe to Madrid.
The move, however, isn’t without complications. Real Madrid’s recent frustration with the Ballon d’Or voting outcome—where Manchester City’s Rodri won over Vinicius Junior—has reportedly made Alexander-Arnold cautious. PSG, meanwhile, are reportedly keen to accelerate talks, with intentions to use him alongside Achraf Hakimi in their lineup.
Real Madrid’s need for a reliable right-back has intensified after Dani Carvajal’s recent ACL injury, and they may look to move forward with an offer as early as January. PSG, meanwhile, continue to ramp up efforts to “convince” Alexander-Arnold of their vision for him in Paris.
