Trent Alexander-Arnold Makes Surprise Move to Acquire French Club Nantes

Liverpool Star Reportedly Bids for Ligue 1 Side Amid Uncertain Future at Anfield

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly made a surprising move to acquire Ligue 1 club FC Nantes, according to French publication L’Equipe. The England international, whose contract situation at Anfield remains uncertain, is now eyeing a major business venture in French football.

Alexander-Arnold, 25, is said to be interested in purchasing the French club alongside his father, Michael Arnold, who manages his business interests through a London-based investment firm. The first discussions between the Arnolds and Nantes owner Waldemar Kita reportedly took place via a video call last summer, followed by in-person meetings in Geneva and London. The proposed takeover is estimated to be worth around €100 million.

This is not Alexander-Arnold’s first foray into sports investments. He is already a minority shareholder in the Formula One team Alpines, as part of a star-studded syndicate created by Otro Capital that includes Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, boxing champion Anthony Joshua, and golf star Rory McIlroy.

Nantes, currently sitting fifth in Ligue 1, have faced financial difficulties under Kita’s ownership since 2007. The businessman is said to be frustrated with the ongoing challenges, which may have prompted him to entertain the idea of selling the club.

Alexander-Arnold’s potential entry into French football would mark a significant expansion of his off-field ventures as speculation over his future with Liverpool continues to grow.

More details on the potential takeover are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
