Trent Alexander-Arnold Set for Real Madrid Move Amid Contract Impasse

Liverpool Right-Back Expected to Join Los Blancos on Free Transfer This Summer

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, as his contract with the Anfield club nears its expiration. Despite speculation, the England international will remain with Liverpool until the end of the season.

No January Exit for Trent

According to El Larguero journalist Bruno Alemany, Real Madrid will not secure Alexander-Arnold’s services in January despite earlier links to a potential €15 million offer. Alemany explained that Liverpool considers the 25-year-old defender crucial to their current campaign under manager Arne Slot, whose team sits atop the Premier League standings.

“Liverpool consider his role to be very important this season,” Alemany said, noting that while a summer exit appears likely, the Reds are preparing to strengthen their defensive options. “They trust Conor Bradley but would like a guaranteed replacement.”

Contract Stalemate

Alexander-Arnold’s contract negotiations with Liverpool have reportedly stalled, leaving the club pessimistic about securing a renewal. The lack of progress has fueled speculation about his move to the Bernabeu, with Real Madrid eager to bolster their defense.

The Spanish giants are currently struggling with injuries in their backline, including long-term absences for Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão. Veteran Lucas Vázquez, deployed as a makeshift right-back, has failed to deliver consistent performances, further highlighting the need for reinforcements.

Madrid Eyeing Defensive Solutions

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly counting on Alexander-Arnold’s arrival to address defensive vulnerabilities. While the Liverpool full-back’s offensive prowess is well-known, his addition would also provide a critical solution to Los Blancos’ problems on the right flank.

For now, Alexander-Arnold remains focused on his role at Liverpool, though his omission from the starting XI in recent high-profile fixtures, including the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham, has raised eyebrows.
