The Grammy-winning star celebrates her achievement alongside top global talents, thanking fans and fellow nominees.
Grammy-winning artist Tyla reached a new high in her music career last night by taking home the Best Afrobeats award at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs). Tyla won in a competitive category that included Afrobeats heavyweights Burna Boy, Tems, Rema, Asake, and Ayra Starr.
The 30th annual EMAs took place at the Co-op Arena, hosted by Rita Ora, and brought together global music stars for a night of standout performances and accolades that showcased the diversity of music worldwide.
Accepting her award, Tyla shared her gratitude and respect for her fellow nominees, acknowledging the role they all play in advancing Afrobeats globally. “I’m so honored to win this award,” Tyla said. “Other nominees have taken Afrobeats so far; I’m just grateful to be part of that journey.” She extended thanks to her fans, known as the “Tigers,” and her family and friends, whose unwavering support has been instrumental to her success.
With this win, Tyla continues to strengthen her impact on the Afrobeats genre, joining other artists who are redefining the global music scene.
