Victor Osimhen Open to Galatasaray Stay, But Financial Hurdles Loom Large

The Napoli striker embraces life in Istanbul but a permanent move remains a distant dream

Victor Osimhen has expressed his happiness at Galatasaray, where he is currently on loan, and has warmed to the idea of a permanent stay. However, financial constraints may block the Turkish club’s hopes of securing the prolific striker’s services long-term, according to a report.

The 25-year-old Nigerian star joined Galatasaray on loan after failed summer moves to PSG, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli. Despite a break clause in January that could allow a transfer, Osimhen has firmly committed to staying in Istanbul for the season.

“I’m here as a Galatasaray player, and I’m happy here,” Osimhen stated earlier this month. “Since I arrived, the fans, the club, and everyone have treated me and my family wonderfully. I’m fully focused on giving my all for the team. I’ve seen the speculation about January, but I can confirm I’ll remain here until the end of the season.”

Osimhen has been in scintillating form, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in nine appearances. His performances have solidified his status as a fan favorite, and Galatasaray is eager to make his stay permanent. However, according to Sky Germany, a deal is currently “impossible” due to financial constraints.

Napoli’s €75 million release clause is far beyond Galatasaray’s financial capacity. The club’s record transfer stands at €18 million for midfielder Gabriel Sara, leaving a significant gap between their budget and Napoli’s demands.

Despite the challenges, initial talks between the clubs have reportedly taken place. Galatasaray may explore creative solutions, such as a cash-plus-player deal, to make the transfer viable.

While Osimhen harbors ambitions of playing in Europe’s elite leagues, he has embraced life in Turkey and enjoys his growing role at Galatasaray. Whether a permanent move can materialize remains to be seen, but for now, the striker’s focus is firmly on delivering for the Turkish champions.
