Nigerian Striker Snubs Saudi Millions for Emotional Istanbul Reunion
Galatasaray have finally secured their man—Victor Osimhen is set to return to the Turkish giants on a permanent deal after a stunning season on loan. The Super Eagles star, who lit up the Süper Lig with 37 goals in 41 games last campaign, has committed his future to the club despite a €160 million contract offer from Saudi Arabia.
After weeks of tense negotiations with Napoli, the two clubs have reached a €75 million agreement—with €40m paid upfront and €35m due next year. The deal also includes a 10% sell-on clause for Napoli, along with a two-year ban on selling Osimhen to any Italian club.
Osimhen Chooses Passion Over Payday
The 26-year-old striker had no shortage of suitors this summer, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle all reportedly interested. However, none could meet his €18m-per-year salary demands, and Osimhen himself was unwilling to compromise for a Premier League move.
Even more eye-catching was his decision to reject a mega-money switch to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, proving his loyalty to Galatasaray, where he became a fan favorite last season.
Historic Welcome Awaits in Istanbul
Osimhen is expected to fly to Turkey on Tuesday, where he will undergo medical tests before being unveiled in what’s being described as a “historic welcome” by local journalist Hakan Gündoğar.
The Nigerian marksman will sign a four-year contract, keeping him at Nef Stadium until 2028. With his blistering pace, lethal finishing, and emotional connection to the club, Galatasaray fans are already dreaming of more glory with Osimhen leading the line.
For Napoli, this deal marks the end of an era—but for Galatasaray, it’s the start of an exciting new chapter with their prolific talisman back where he belongs.
