Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG Continue Pursuit Amid Transfer Market Tension
The transfer saga surrounding Victor Osimhen’s potential departure from Napoli has taken yet another twist, as a serious injury to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Gonçalo Ramos reshapes the market dynamics. Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG have all shown persistent interest in the 25-year-old Nigerian forward, with PSG emerging as the frontrunner in recent weeks.
PSG had reportedly already reached personal terms with Osimhen, but negotiations with Napoli have stalled over the transfer fee. The Serie A club has steadfastly refused to sell the striker for less than €130 million, despite Osimhen handing in a transfer request.
Napoli’s negotiating position has now strengthened further due to an injury sustained by PSG’s Ramos during their season opener.
Ramos, who scored the first goal of the match, was forced to leave the field in the first half after suffering a blow to his left ankle.
PSG head coach Luis Enrique later commented, “I’m not a doctor, but I think the injury is quite serious. I don’t know how long he’ll be out for, but it’s definitely something serious.”
With Ramos potentially sidelined, PSG has reportedly renewed its efforts to secure Osimhen, rekindling interest from a pursuit that began last summer when the club made a €150 million bid. PSG now faces a pressing need for a top-tier center-forward, especially with Randal Kolo-Muani, who struggled in his debut season, as their only remaining option.
While PSG has already agreed to a €12 million per year salary for Osimhen, the main challenge remains brokering a deal with Napoli. This latest development appears to push Osimhen closer to PSG and further away from Chelsea and Arsenal as the transfer market enters its final stages.
