Real Madrid Star Gets Final Word on Instagram After Spanish Super Cup Derby Victory
After a heated touchline exchange with Atlético Madrid boss Diego Simeone during Thursday’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final, Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior delivered a sharp final blow on social media, taking a clear swipe at his antagonist.
The confrontation unfolded during Real Madrid’s 2-1 win in Jeddah, with Simeone reportedly telling Vinícius, “Florentino is going to kick you out,” in reference to the forward’s uncertain future at the club. As Vinícius was later substituted to whistles from the crowd, Simeone gestured toward the stands, urging him to “listen” to the disapproval.
Not one to back down, Vinícius later commented on an Instagram post showing the argument, writing simply: “You’ve lost another knockout,” accompanied by crying-laughing emojis.
When asked about the incident post-match, Simeone was cryptic, saying only that he had a “complicated” memory and declined to elaborate. Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, however, was less reserved, expressing clear displeasure with Simeone’s remarks.
While Real Madrid advances to a Clásico final against Barcelona, concerns remain over the fitness of Rodrygo and Antonio Rüdiger. Alonso also confirmed that Kylian Mbappé will join the squad in Saudi Arabia ahead of Sunday’s showdown.
For now, Vinícius has claimed the last word in a fiery personal duel, turning off-field tension into online triumph after securing the result that mattered most on the pitch.
