Journalist Julio Pulido didn’t mince words when discussing the situation on Cadena SER: “Vinicius is right to stay—leaving for Saudi Arabia at this stage would be a mistake. But Real Madrid are wrong. The Madrid of the future isn’t built around him, not this version of Vinicius—the one who loses his temper, gets frustrated, and becomes less decisive on the pitch.”
He added that Mbappé’s arrival has only magnified the issue, with many madridistas growing tired of the “noise” surrounding Vinicius.
The Mbappé Dilemma: A Clash of Styles and Egos?
Since joining on a free transfer last summer, Mbappé has struggled to form a cohesive partnership with Vinicius, as both prefer operating from the left flank. Their overlapping roles have left Madrid’s attack looking disjointed at times, and Vinicius’ new deal could further complicate matters.
“There was a leadership problem: do you build the team around Vinicius or Mbappé?” said analyst Miguel Martín Talavera. “Mbappé hasn’t taken control, maybe because he couldn’t. Now, with this contract, Vinicius is being pushed as the leader. The big question is—how will Mbappé react?”
