Former Arsenal star believes Isak could be the next Henry and the missing piece in Arsenal’s title quest
Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has urged his old club to make a move for Newcastle United’s star striker Alexander Isak before a powerhouse like Real Madrid swoops in. Walcott’s recommendation comes after watching Isak score in his fourth consecutive game, leading Newcastle to a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Walcott, impressed by Isak’s versatility, called him the “closest thing” he’s seen to another Thierry Henry. He praised the Swedish international’s well-rounded skills, saying Isak has the potential to be a perfect striker. “He’s got all the elements you’d want for the ultimate striker,” Walcott said to BBC Sport. “If Arsenal or anyone wants him, they’ll need to move quickly. He’s exactly what Arsenal needs—a forward who’s capable of doing it all.”
Isak’s ability to score different types of goals and contribute all over the field makes him a unique presence in the Premier League, according to Walcott. The former Arsenal player believes that Isak’s skill set is exactly what Arsenal needs to elevate its attack, suggesting that a partnership with players like Martin Odegaard could make the team more dynamic and unpredictable.
Beyond Arsenal, Walcott pointed out that top clubs, including Real Madrid, would likely covet Isak’s talent. He speculated that Real Madrid might look to add Isak to their lineup, a move that could bring balance to their team. “Imagine Isak in that Real side; he’d bring a whole new level of balance,” Walcott explained.
Walcott’s comments emphasized Isak’s adaptability, physical presence, and skill in the air—qualities he compared to legends like Didier Drogba, Michael Owen, and even Henry himself. In Walcott’s words, Isak could be “this generation’s Henry, with added abilities in the air.”
