Wizkid Makes History as First African Artist to Reach 10 Billion Streams on Spotify

Nigerian Star’s Global Hit “One Dance” Leads Record-Breaking Milestone

Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has shattered a major global record, becoming the first African artist to surpass 10 billion total streams on Spotify, the streaming platform confirmed.

The milestone, achieved across all his credited work, cements the “Ojuelegba” singer’s status as a foundational force in bringing Afrobeats to the world. The monumental number was driven significantly by his historic collaboration with Drake and British singer Tyla on “One Dance,” which remains his most-streamed track with nearly 4 billion plays alone.

His critically acclaimed album Made In Lagos (Deluxe Edition) is his most-streamed project, having crossed 1 billion streams, while his solo hit “Essence” featuring Tems has amassed over 333 million streams.

“This is a proud moment for African music and a testament to Wizkid’s incredible artistry and global influence,” a music industry analyst said. “He paved the way, and this number proves it.”

In related streaming news, American singer Billie Eilish also set a new record, as her song “Birds of a Feather” recently surpassed Tones and I’s “Dance Monkey” to become the most-streamed solo track by a female artist in Spotify history.

Wizkid’s landmark achievement highlights the explosive and sustained growth of African music on the global stage, with the artist at the forefront of its streaming revolution.
