Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has opened up about the relaxed approach he takes when creating his chart-topping tracks. The acclaimed artist recently shared that he recorded all his biggest hits, including “Holla At Your Boy,” “Soco,” “Joro,” and “Ojuelegba,” while sitting down, emphasizing that he never puts pressure on himself to make music.
In a widely circulated video, Wizkid expressed his disdain for the typical promotional activities and media interviews that often accompany new releases. “All my biggest songs, from ‘Holla At Your Boy’ to ‘Soco’, ‘Joro’, ‘Ojuelegba’, I recorded them sitting down,” Wizkid revealed. “I’m chilling. You get me, no stress. You see promo, I hate doing that sht. You know press, I hate doing all that sht, bro. I know exactly what the people want.”
The “Essence” singer also credited his producer, P2J, for understanding his laid-back creative process, noting that all they need to do is “turn on the mic” to create music that resonates with fans worldwide.
