Yamal’s Acrobatic Wonder Goal Propels Barcelona Back to La Liga’s Top Spot

Teenager’s Spectacular Volley Breaks Oviedo’s Resistance in Rain-Soaked Camp Nou Showcase

Barcelona reclaimed the top spot in La Liga on Sunday, but they had to work hard for it. A 3-0 victory over bottom-placed Real Oviedo was finally sealed by a moment of pure inspiration from teenager Lamine Yamal, breaking down a stubborn defensive effort in a rain-drenched Camp Nou.

After seeing Real Madrid go top on Saturday, the pressure was on Hansi Flick’s side to respond. The first half, however, was a frustrating affair. Barcelona’s passing was uncharacteristically sloppy, and Oviedo’s disciplined low block held firm. The visitors even threatened on the counter, with goalkeeper Joan García forced into a long-range save. In the stands, injured star Pedri González watched on with a concerned expression.

The breakthrough finally came eight minutes into the second half. Intense pressing from Yamal and Raphinha paid off, with the loose ball falling to Dani Olmo to slot home from close range.

Oviedo’s resistance then quickly crumbled. Just nine minutes later, a disastrous under-hit backpass was intercepted by Raphinha, who calmly lofted the ball over the stranded goalkeeper to double the lead.

The crowning moment arrived in the 71st minute. Olmo’s cross drifted behind Yamal, but the 17-year-old sensation adjusted his body to execute a spectacular sideways scissor-kick, volleying the ball into the net and sending the home fans into delirium.

A torrential downpour then swept through the partially reopened stadium, sending many supporters scrambling for cover. Those who braved the elements nearly saw a fourth, but Oviedo’s goalkeeper Aaron Escandell produced a fine late save to deny Robert Lewandowski.

The hard-fought three points lift Barcelona one point clear of Real Madrid at the summit, but the performance was a reminder that the path to the title will require grit as well as flair.
