Liverpool have been told to pay £70m for their new ‘top’ midfield target, while Manchester United are rivalling Inter Milan for a wantaway defender…
PALACE ‘ASK’ LIVERPOOL TO PAY £70M
The Chelsea money-bags beat Liverpool in the race to sign Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, paying over £150m for the two players in the process.
This summer has been a rollercoaster for Liverpool and they have now returned to the drawing board as they attempt to replace Fabinho. Having signed Wataru Endo from VfB Stuttgart, Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure is now Jurgen Klopp’s ‘top target’.
And in a boost to Liverpool, the Premier League star is ‘keen’ on a move to Anfield, with The Independent claiming earlier this week that could be available for ‘under £60m’.
But Football Insider are of the understanding that Crystal Palace are ‘set to ask for bids of £70m’ and an offer ‘will be accepted’ if this asking price is met.
Liverpool are seemingly searching far and wide for their next addition, with Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Nice’s Khephren Thuram mentioned as potential alternative options.
MAN UTD ATTEMPT TO HIJACK INTER MILAN
The Red Devils sanctioned Harry Maguire’s £30m move to West Ham earlier this month but the Hammers have pulled the plug on the deal as the centre-back was not too keen on the switch.
United have been linked with several defenders this summer but it remains to be seen whether they will get one with it now looking like Maguire is sticking around.
Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard has been monitored by Man Utd and he’s expressed his willingness to sign for the Premier League giants, but Inter Milan are now leading the race to sign him.
French journalist Ignazio Genuardi is reporting that Pavard has an ‘agreement’ with Inter Milan but Man Utd have ‘offered him more money’.
Inter Milan have ‘given their okay’ regarding a four-year contract’ but they are yet to ‘satisfy’ Bayern Munich. The German giants are said to be ‘waiting’ for a new offer but they ‘do not want’ to let him go for a fee ‘below €35m’ (around £30m).
CHELSEA ‘INTERESTED’ IN £50M ARSENAL MAN
The Blues have signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal in an attempt to ease their issues in front of goal, but Christopher Nkunku’s injury could force them to re-enter the market for a new forward.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side – according to Sky Sports – have turned their attention to Folarin Balogun, who scored 21 goals in Ligue Un while on loan at Reims last season.
Balogun is behind Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the pecking order at Arsenal and he could be offloaded in the coming weeks as the Premier League club attempt to balance the books after spending over £200m on their four new signings.
Sky Sports are reporting that Chelsea are ‘interested’ in Balogun but they are yet to make a ‘formal bid’ for the Arsenal forward.
AS Monaco ‘remain in talks’ with Arsenal over Balogun, with the Gunners ‘standing firm on their £50m valuation’. The French outfit are said to be ‘working towards a structured deal that would be accepted’.
