Arsenal Set for Major Squad Overhaul with 12 Players Facing Summer Exit

Mikel Arteta Plans Clear-Out to Revamp Squad for Premier League Title Push

Arsenal is gearing up for a significant squad shake-up this summer, with as many as 12 players reportedly set to leave the club. According to The Daily Mirror, manager Mikel Arteta is preparing a massive overhaul to streamline the team and build a stronger squad capable of mounting a serious Premier League title challenge next season.

The changes come as Arsenal look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign, having fallen short in their bid to end a 21-year wait for the league title. With Liverpool running away with the championship this season, Arteta and the club’s hierarchy are determined to make bold moves in the transfer market.

Andrea Berta, who is expected to join as the club’s new sporting director this month, will play a key role in the revamp. His first task will be to offload players who no longer feature in Arteta’s plans. Among the high-profile names set to depart is Thomas Partey, whose contract expires this summer. The Ghanaian midfielder, now in his thirties, will not be offered a new deal. Similarly, Jorginho, 33, is also expected to leave on a free transfer after the Club World Cup, as the Italian-Brazilian is deemed past his prime.

The defensive line will also see changes. Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has fallen down the pecking order at left-back, is likely to be sold, while Nuno Tavares, currently on loan at Lazio, is set to make his move to Italy permanent after an impressive spell. Jakub Kiwior, another left-footed defender, is expected to be granted his wish to leave and could also return to Serie A.

In goal, backup keepers Neto and Karl Hein have failed to impress Arteta and will be replaced. Meanwhile, midfielders Albert Sambi Lokonga and Fabio Vieira, on loan at Sevilla and Porto respectively, are expected to make their moves permanent.

Youngster Marquinhos, who has been on loan at Cruzeiro, is set to return to Brazil permanently, while Reiss Nelson, currently on loan at Fulham, will not be reintegrated into the squad. Raheem Sterling’s loan spell from Chelsea has also been deemed unsuccessful, and the winger will return to Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal’s clear-out is part of a broader strategy to upgrade the squad and address weaknesses that have hindered their title ambitions. With a mix of experienced stars and fringe players set to depart, the Gunners are expected to be active in the transfer market, targeting fresh talent to bolster their ranks.

As the summer window approaches, Arsenal fans will be watching closely to see how Arteta and the club’s new leadership reshape the team in their quest to reclaim Premier League glory.
