Arsenal’s Top Priority Saka Agrees to New Contract Talks

The Gunners’ superstar has verbally agreed to negotiate a new long-term deal, setting the stage for a “record-breaking” pay rise to secure his future at the Emirates.

In a major boost for the Premier League leaders, Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka has verbally agreed to advance negotiations on a new long-term contract, signaling his commitment to the club he has called home since he was a boy. The move is seen as a crucial step in Arsenal’s strategy to build their future around the English international.

According to  Sky Sport Switzerland, the proposed deal would extend Saka’s stay until 2030 and include a “record-breaking” pay rise for the 24-year-old, who is already in line to become one of the club’s highest earners. The negotiations, however, are not without their sticking points. While an initial figure of around €14 million (£12.3m) per season has been mentioned, it is understood that Saka’s camp is seeking a package that reflects his status as a key player—potentially looking to match or exceed the estimated €16.5m annual salary of teammate Kai Havertz.

Despite this detail to be ironed out, the mood emanating from North London is overwhelmingly positive, with the club reportedly “confident” that an agreement will be reached to secure the future of their star man.

Manager Mikel Arteta has previously expressed his clear desire to see Saka pen a new deal. “I would love that,” Arteta said in late September. “From everything that I know, he is a player who is extremely happy, and proud to have the role that he has at the football club. Things will develop in a natural way… and everyone knows how important Bukayo is for us. Hopefully we can do it.”

With Saka now formally at the table, the club and its fans can dare to believe that their homegrown hero will be the cornerstone of the Arsenal project for years to come.
