A Deal Years in the Making

After Barcelona failed to land Williams last summer due to financial constraints, the club have reignited their pursuit, ready to trigger his €58 million release clause. Fabrizio Romano reports that while the deal isn’t yet finalized, the Catalan giants are “pushing hard” to get it over the line.

The move represents a major U-turn from president Joan Laporta, who had previously ruled out signing Williams after the player rejected them last year.
