Barcelona’s Transfer Focus Shifts from Nico Williams to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Athletic Club Winger Could Miss Out as Napoli Star Tops Barca’s Wish List

Nico Williams’ hopes of a move to Barcelona may be fading as the club’s sporting director, Deco, has reportedly shifted focus towards Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. According to El Nacional, the Georgian winger has leapfrogged Williams on Barca’s transfer shortlist due to his impressive performances under Napoli manager Antonio Conte this season.

Kvaratskhelia, 23, has been a long-standing target for Barcelona, and his return to the club’s agenda signals their renewed interest. However, Napoli has set a high price tag, previously deterring Paris Saint-Germain with a valuation exceeding €100 million. The Georgian’s current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €68.3 million, making negotiations challenging, given Napoli’s firm stance on transfers, as seen in their dealings over Victor Osimhen.

In contrast, Williams, a Spanish international, has a release clause of just €58 million, making him a more affordable and straightforward option for Barcelona. If the funds can be secured, particularly with the club’s imminent signing of a lucrative contract with Nike, a deal for Williams could be more feasible.

Barcelona has also been linked to a potential free transfer for Neymar from Al-Hilal, adding further intrigue to their transfer plans.
