Bucci Franklin & Sunshine Rosman
The actor addresses fan speculation, explaining a viral moment was a celebration of their on-screen partnership.
Nollywood actor Bucci Franklin has spoken about the nature of his relationship with fellow actor Sunshine Rosman, following speculation from fans. The rumours began after the two, who co-starred in AY Makun’s film The Waiter, shared a celebratory kiss on stage at the movie’s premiere.
The moment, which was meant to reflect their characters’ connection, led many to believe the actors were romantically involved off-screen. Franklin has since clarified that the gesture was purely professional and a testament to their successful collaboration.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Franklin offered a light-hearted response to the speculation. “Confirmed from where? I didn’t get that memo,” he said. “There was a kiss because we were both an item in the film.”
He expressed his deep professional admiration for Rosman, noting, “I’d say I am her biggest fan and I enjoy sharing the screen with her. She is part Nigerian. I look forward to creating more cinematic memories with her.”
The two have since worked together again on the Netflix thriller To Kill a Monkey.
Shifting focus from the rumours, Franklin took a moment to reflect on his career origins. He shared that his passion for acting was nurtured during his early days performing in church dramas, which he said not only developed his craft but also contributed to his personal and spiritual growth. Those experiences, he explained, gave him the confidence that continues to guide his work today.
