Nigerian superstar Burna Boy now holds the most entries by a Nigerian artist on the prestigious US chart.
Afrobeats sensation Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has made history by surpassing his fellow Nigerian artist Tems to become the Nigerian artist with the most entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Burna Boy’s latest achievement comes as the song “We Pray,” a collaboration with Coldplay, Little Simz, Elyanna, and Tini Stoessel, debuted at No. 87 on the chart this week. This marks Burna Boy’s sixth entry on the Billboard Hot 100, breaking his previous tie with Tems, who has five entries.
This milestone places Burna Boy ahead of Wizkid, the first Nigerian artist to appear on the chart, who boasts four entries. Other Nigerian stars like Rema, CKay, Fireboy, Davido, and Lojay each have one entry on the globally recognized chart.
Burna Boy is now just one song away from breaking the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 chart entries by an African artist, currently held by South African rock band Seether.
