Spanish Reports Suggest Ancelotti Could Take Over if He Chooses to Depart Real Madrid
Spanish reports have indicated that Carlo Ancelotti has been approached to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, as the Red Devils grapple with a challenging start to the new season. The team currently languishes in 10th place in the Premier League table and finds itself at the bottom of their Champions League group after consecutive defeats to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
Amidst growing speculation about ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford, even with purported assurances from Sir Jim Ratcliffe that the Dutchman may retain his position if he assumes the role of sporting director, odds on his potential sacking have been slashed. Spanish outlet El Chiringuito journalist Benjamin Lopez has linked Ancelotti with the United managerial role, provided the Italian opts to depart Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Lopez shared insights into Ancelotti’s situation, stating, “Ancelotti has two things decided about his future, one is that if they offer him a renewal, he will remain at Madrid. Brazil can put whatever they want on the table, he will stay.”
Delving further into Ancelotti’s potential options, Lopez revealed that, aside from Brazil, the Italian coach has received offers from the Canadian National Team and Manchester United. “He has a house in Vancouver, and his wife is Canadian, so he would be delighted with that. The last is not an offer in writing but has been sent to him verbally through his agent, it’s from the Premier League and Manchester United. They would take him tomorrow.”
While Ancelotti has expressed reluctance about returning to the Premier League, having previously managed Everton from 2019 to 2021, Lopez noted that the 64-year-old’s preference is to extend his contract at the Bernabeu, contingent on how the current season unfolds. As the managerial carousel continues, the football world watches with anticipation to see if Ancelotti will be enticed by the prospect of guiding Manchester United through their turbulent times.
