Celebrity Barman Cubana Chief Priest Arrested by EFCC for Financial Misconduct

Cubana Chief Priest, a well-known Instagram personality and celebrity barman whose real name is Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, has been arrested and is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The arrest comes amidst allegations of financial misconduct, particularly concerning the mishandling of Nigerian currency.

Sources within the EFCC, speaking anonymously to LIB, confirmed Chief Priest’s detention and stated that he is scheduled to appear in court on April 17, 2024. The exact timing of his arrest has not been disclosed, but it is affirmed that he is currently being held by the EFCC.

The allegations against Chief Priest center around his activities at various events, including one held at the prestigious Eko Hotel in Lagos on February 13, 2024. The EFCC is also looking into events reportedly held in Lagos in January 2024 and another occasion dating back to 2020.

This development follows closely after the sentencing of popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, to a six-month jail term for naira abuse. The EFCC has stated that Cubana Chief Priest will face charges at the Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged actions involving the spraying and tampering of the Nigerian currency.

The charge sheet, filed on April 4, 2024, by EFCC prosecutor Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) and seven other lawyers representing the chairman of the anti-graft agency, outlines the legal proceedings Chief Priest will undergo in connection to these allegations.
