Former Football Icon Could Assume ‘International Ambassador’ Position if Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani’s Bid Proves Successful
In a potential game-changing move for Manchester United, reports suggest that football legend David Beckham may step into a role at the club if Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani succeeds in his bid to acquire the famed English football club.
Since November 2022, Manchester United has been on the market for prospective buyers, with the current owners, the Glazer family, initiating the sale. Sheikh Jassim and INEOS boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe have emerged as the leading contenders to take over the reins at Old Trafford. However, as of now, a concrete deal has not materialized, with speculations circulating that the Glazers might reconsider their decision to sell and potentially relist the club for sale in 2025.
According to information shared by talkSPORT presenter Anil Kandola, David Beckham has reportedly been in direct contact with the Qatari bidders, expressing his support for their bid to acquire Manchester United. It is said that Beckham has been approached with an offer for an ‘International Ambassador’ role within the club if Sheikh Jassim’s acquisition proves successful.
Kandola shared on social media: “Was told last night that David Beckham has been in direct contact with the Qataris & has been requested to become more vocal in his support of the bid for #MUFC. He’s been offered an ‘International Ambassador’ role if Qatar are successful in their acquisition of United.”
During the recent Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix over the weekend, Beckham was questioned about Manchester United’s current situation. In response, Beckham emphasized the club’s desire for stability, stating, “We are one of, if not the biggest club in the world. We want stability. I think that’s the most important thing.” The former football star expressed confidence in the club’s potential return to the top under the right leadership.
Beckham added, “In our eyes, in the fans’ eyes, we are number one. We want to be back at the top, and I believe I know the right people to do that, so we’ll see!” As the speculation surrounding Manchester United’s ownership continues, the prospect of David Beckham’s involvement adds an intriguing dimension to the ongoing saga.
