Amaju Pinnick Publicly Expresses Disappointment Over Superstar’s Absence
Renowned Nigerian artist Davido has found himself in the midst of controversy after former President of the NFF and FIFA Organising Committee member, Amaju Pinnick, publicly criticized him for failing to honor his commitment to perform at the ‘Warri Again’ event. Despite receiving a substantial payment of $94,600, the superstar artist was notably absent from the highly anticipated event held on Friday, October 6th.
In a widely circulated video, Pinnick expressed his disappointment on stage, openly dragging Davido for reneging on their agreement. Pinnick revealed that a significant sum of $94,600 had been disbursed for Davido’s performance, emphasizing that this payment was made as early as April 6th, 2023. He underscored the meticulous planning, even arranging a chartered plane to transport Davido and his entourage to the state.
Lamenting Davido’s absence, Pinnick accused the artist of showing disrespect to the city of Warri, given the considerable financial investment made for his performance. The former NFF President did not mince his words, stating that Davido’s failure to perform despite the payment reflected poorly on his professionalism and commitment to agreements.
In a striking comparison, Pinnick unfavorably likened Davido’s stature to that of Burna Boy in the music industry, suggesting that the former harbors an inflated ego. The public critique by Pinnick has sparked discussions regarding artists’ professional responsibilities and the impact of their actions on event organizers and their audience.
Adding another layer to the unfolding drama, Pinnick revealed that Buzzing Rapper Shallipopi ultimately replaced Davido as the headline act. The swift substitution raised eyebrows among attendees and fans, questioning the reliability and professionalism of artists in the entertainment industry.
