Award-Winning Artist Responds to Alleged Reports of Disappointing Turnout

In a mix of surprises and successes, Nigerian singing sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has found himself at the center of discussions following alleged reports of a lackluster turnout at his recent Timeless Concert in Abuja.

Davido took to Twitter to express his disbelief and disappointment after sharing a video showcasing a sparsely populated Eagle Square hall, questioning whether it was a prank and expressing surprise at the unexpectedly low attendance. Blogger Instablog9ja further fueled the controversy by suggesting that the singer was devastated by the turnout.

In response, Davido, using a cap emoji in Instablog9ja’s comment section, implied skepticism about the narrative, a move often used to symbolize the dismissal of false stories or lies.

The turnout speculation has sparked discussions about potential reasons, with some pointing to the controversies Davido faced this year, including a cheating scandal, alleged debt with businessman Abu Salami, and a purported failed contract with Amaju Pinnick.

Despite the concert setback, Davido’s year has been marked by significant accomplishments. After a nearly six-month break, the “Unavailable” crooner returned to the music scene and was honored as an “Outstanding Georgia Citizen” by the Georgia State Assembly.

In October, both Atlanta and Georgia celebrated Davido with dedicated days. November 18th was declared “Davido’s Day” in Atlanta, while Fluton County, Georgia, recognized November 21st as “Davido Appreciation Day.” Fans expressed their joy on social media, hailing their King.

Davido’s comeback album, “Timeless,” has been a resounding success, amassing over a billion streams. The album’s achievements culminated in three Grammy nominations for Best Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Global Music Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Speaking on the recognition, Davido emphasized that delay isn’t denial, drawing parallels with fellow Nigerian artists Burna Boy and Wizkid, who have also been acknowledged by the prestigious academy.
