Erling Haaland’s Contract Talks at Manchester City Delayed Over Release Clause Negotiations

Manchester City’s efforts to secure Erling Haaland to a new long-term contract have reportedly been delayed due to ongoing discussions over the inclusion of a potential release clause. The 24-year-old striker, who has dominated the Premier League since his arrival, has been in negotiations with the club for some time over a lucrative new deal.

Sources suggest that the final contract is likely to include a release clause, similar to the one Haaland had during his time at Borussia Dortmund, which facilitated his move to City for a reported fee of £51 million, although the total cost, including agent fees, rose to around £86 million.

Despite attracting significant interest from top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Haaland is expected to commit his future to City, with the club eager to reward his outstanding form and secure his services long-term.

Since joining Manchester City in 2022, the Norway international has scored 97 goals and provided 14 assists in 102 appearances. His current contract at the Etihad Stadium runs until June 2027, and he has already netted seven goals in just three Premier League matches this season.
