Transfer Gossip: European giants threaten Chelsea deal for Mbappe alternative; Man Utd set £25m demand by PL rivals

Chelsea’s top striker target is an ’emergency solution’ for European giants Real Madrid, while Man Utd have been told to pay £25m for an Everton player…

REAL MADRID’S ‘EMERGENCY SOLUTION’
Kylian Mbappe has dominated the gossip columns over the past few weeks and that looks set to continue as he’s being linked with unrealistic moves to the Premier League.

Chelsea are the latest club to seemingly step up their interest in Mbappe, who (if you believe the Spanish media) is willing to go on loan to the London outfit.

The more realistic outcome is that Mbappe sticks around at PSG for another year before *finally* joining Real Madrid as a free agent in 2024.

Chelsea’s reported pursuit of Mbappe is likely to come to no avail but they are attempting to sign Dusan Vlahovic as part of a swap deal with Juventus involving Romelu Lukaku.

Juventus are struggling financially and they are demanding €40m from Chelsea as part of this deal, but Spanish outlet Cadena Ser are reporting that Vlahovic is an ’emergency solution’ for Real Madrid.

Should their attempts to sign Mbappe or Tottenham’s Harry Kane ‘fail’, Vlahovic would be their ‘last minute option’ as Carlo Ancelotti feels that Real Madrid ‘lack goals’ with summer signing Joselu (yes, that striker who flopped at Newcastle a few years ago) currently their only striker option following Karim Benzema’s exit.

MAN UTD TARGET GIVEN £25M ASKING PRICE
Everton could have really done with having Jarrad Branthwaite in their squad as they battled relegation last season because he impressed while on loan in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven.

Over at Man Utd, Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is set to be their third summer signing and he could soon be followed by Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

But Erik ten Hag is not finishing there as they remain in the market for a new centre-back and they seemingly have their eyes on Branthwaite as a relatively low-cost option.

Football Insider are reporting that United have ‘made an enquiry’ for the defender, who ‘wants to quit’ Everton and is ‘on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs’.

It is noted that Branthwaite was ‘valued at just £6m a few months ago’ but Everton have now ‘told Man Utd they want £25m’ for the young defender.

Branthwaite could potentially be a long-term replacement for Harry Maguire, who (according to the same report) is being targeted by Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham and West Ham.

WEST HAM FLOP SET FOR SERIE A RETURN
The Hammers really need to get a wriggle on with their summer recruitment as tension behind the scenes has left them playing catch-up with their Premier League rivals.

West Ham are yet to spend any of the money earned from selling Declan Rice and Gianluca Scamacca is set to follow the Arsenal newbie out of the club.

After scoring just three goals in 16 Premier League appearances last season, the £30.5m forward is set to secure himself a return to Serie A.

Inter Milan were initially leading the race for Scamacca but Football Italia are reporting that Atalanta’s are using the money for Man Utd-bound Hojlund to ‘beat’ their rivals to sign the West Ham man.

Inter ‘will not go beyond’ their current offer (€24m plus €4m in add-ons), while ‘Atalanta can match the €30m asking price including add-ons’. They are also ‘on the verge’ of signing former Leeds United target Charles De Ketelaere on loan from rivals AC Milan.
