Controversial Crossdresser Accused of Receiving VIP Treatment During Prison Term
A new report by the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) has revealed that controversial crossdresser Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, popularly known as Bobrisky, served just three weeks of his six-month prison sentence, with the remainder spent in a secret location.
Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in jail on April 12 by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos for Naira abuse. However, he was released on August 5, sparking widespread speculation that he had received preferential treatment during his time in jail.
On Tuesday, social media buzzed after Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), released a video alleging that Bobrisky had claimed to spend his sentence in a private residence, facilitated by his influential “godfather.” The video also alleged that officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were bribed with N15 million to drop a money laundering charge against Bobrisky.
The FIJ report claims that although Bobrisky was initially taken to Kirikiri prison in April, he mysteriously disappeared from the facility after three weeks. A prison official reportedly confirmed that Bobrisky was “treated like a president” during his brief stay in the prison before being moved to an undisclosed location.
“Bob spent only three weeks here with us in Kirikiri before he was taken out to another place we don’t know,” the source told FIJ, adding that the arrangement involved money. “He received VIP treatment all through. He lived in a special cell. The money he said he paid is actually true.”
The claims have fueled outrage among the public, with many questioning the fairness of the justice system and the alleged leniency Bobrisky received during his prison term.
