Gabriel Agbonlahor Claims Mohamed Salah Set to Leave Liverpool for Saudi Pro League in Summer Move

Former Aston Villa striker suggests Egyptian star will sign record-breaking deal to become face of Saudi football.

Ex-Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is set to depart for the Saudi Pro League next summer. Agbonlahor made the revelation on talkSPORT, stating he has insider knowledge that the Egyptian forward will sign a record-breaking deal in Saudi Arabia, making him the league’s new face ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah, who has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League for over a year, saw Liverpool reject a bid exceeding £100 million last summer. However, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, along with those of teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the club now faces a dilemma. Salah’s future at Anfield remains uncertain, with no contract extension in sight.

“I know Salah’s going,” Agbonlahor said. “I’ve got a source that told me he’s definitely going to Saudi, on a record contract. He’ll earn more than Ronaldo, and he’ll be the face of the football over there. You can’t turn that down if you’re Mo Salah. He’s done everything at Liverpool, hasn’t he?”

While Agbonlahor did not specify which Saudi club Salah would join, he emphasized that the 31-year-old’s move to the Middle East seems inevitable, citing the lucrative nature of the deal. Salah has remained tight-lipped about his future but acknowledged that his current contract is winding down. In a post-match interview following Liverpool’s win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, Salah commented, “You know this is my last year at the club. I just want to enjoy it. It’s not up to me, but no one has spoken to me at the club.”

As the clock ticks down on Salah’s contract, speculation over his next move will likely intensify, with many believing that the allure of Saudi riches may prove too tempting to resist.
