Gary Neville Slams Manchester United’s Performance in 3-0 Loss to Spurs as “Absolute Disgrace”

Club legend criticizes United’s “lowest” point under Erik ten Hag after heavy defeat at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday has been fiercely criticized by former player Gary Neville, who called the team’s performance “an absolute disgrace.” United were outclassed by Spurs, with goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke sealing a comfortable win for the visitors, leaving Erik ten Hag’s side in 12th place in the Premier League standings.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville did not hold back in his assessment. “It’s one of the worst performances I have seen under Ten Hag. And that is saying something. It is really bad,” he said. The loss marks United’s third defeat in six matches this season, with their only wins coming against Fulham and Southampton.

Neville added, “Today has shocked me how low they’ve gone. It was a really bad one.” Comparing this defeat to tough times under previous managers, Neville said it reminded him of some of the club’s worst moments in recent history, from the eras of David Moyes to Ralf Rangnick.

United’s misery was compounded by Bruno Fernandes’ red card in the first half, though the team had been struggling even before the sending-off. Neville had earlier described their play as resembling that of a “pub team” during the first half.

Despite growing pressure, Ten Hag remains defiant, dismissing any thoughts of quitting. “I am not thinking about this,” the Dutch manager said after the match. He emphasized that the team is united with the club’s ownership and leadership in working to improve, acknowledging that it will take time and patience due to injuries and the need for organizational improvement.
