Erik ten Hag Criticizes Manchester United’s Performance in 4-0 Defeat to Crystal Palace (Video Highlights)

United’s Manager Expresses Disappointment Over Young Players’ Performance

Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag has criticized the team’s young players for their role in Crystal Palace’s first goal during their 4-0 defeat at Selhurst Park, marking United’s worst defeat of the season.

The match saw Michael Olise score twice, contributing to Palace’s commanding victory over United. Ten Hag expressed visible frustration at the ease with which Olise collected the ball and scored the opening goal in the 12th minute.

Speaking about the goal, Ten Hag said, “There (the first goal) was a script and they should follow it and they didn’t do. Professionals shouldn’t allow this because it was such an easy giveaway goal, five players over the ball and they have a throw-in.”

He further emphasized that even though United has young players, they should take responsibility when playing in the first team. Ten Hag highlighted the disappointment in conceding goals easily, especially given the team’s current circumstances.

United has now suffered their 13th loss in the Premier League this season, with Ten Hag admitting it was their “worst defeat” in a campaign that has seen them experience 18 losses overall.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Ten Hag expressed disappointment and acknowledged that mistakes were made both collectively and individually. He stressed the importance of covering for each other and helping out in difficult situations, particularly when players are not in their preferred positions due to ongoing challenges within the team.

The defeat against Crystal Palace underscores the need for improvements and a more cohesive performance from Manchester United as they navigate the remainder of the season.
