FBI Links Musician’s Luxury SUV to $4.7M U.S. Fraud Case, Sparking Social Media Outcry
Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confiscated a 2019 Lamborghini Urus belonging to dancehall artist Shatta Wale following an FBI request, revealing an unexpected connection between the celebrity’s luxury wheels and an international financial fraud case.

The vehicle, seized during a June operation at Wale’s Trassaco residence, is allegedly tied to Nana Kwabena Amuah – a Ghanaian national currently serving an 86-month prison sentence in America for financial crimes. The FBI claims the SUV represents part of $4.7 million in illegal proceeds that Amuah must repay as restitution.
The Controversial Seizure:
- EOCO’s armed team conducted what they describe as a “peaceful, procedural” seizure
- Shatta Wale maintains he legally purchased the vehicle for $150,000 as a third-party buyer
- The musician blasted authorities on social media, questioning why armed officers were necessary
- EOCO alleges Wale requested secrecy due to the car’s importance to his brand image
“This wasn’t about Shatta Wale – it’s about following international legal processes,” EOCO’s acting director Raymond Archer stated, confirming the vehicle remains in their custody.
The dancehall star’s fiery Instagram posts reveal his frustration: “Why bring guns to take a car? I’m a law-abiding citizen who worked hard for my property,” Wale protested, distancing himself from Amuah and demanding clearer explanations about the vehicle’s alleged criminal ties.
As the luxury SUV sits impounded, questions linger about its original importation and whether Wale’s purchase might have unknowingly connected him to an international crime web. The case highlights growing concerns about how high-value assets move through Ghana’s used car market and the challenges celebrities face when their prized possessions become entangled in global investigations.
Neither the FBI nor EOCO has indicated whether Wale faces further scrutiny, leaving fans and legal observers waiting to see if this high-profile seizure will lead to more revelations about the Lamborghini’s troubled history.
